Yale School of Management
The Edward P Evans, Yale School of Management landscape was inspired by the geographic characteristics and ecologies of the Northeast and takes two forms. The formal Entry Garden which relates to the contemporary structure designed by Foster + Partners that goes beyond the traditional vocabulary of the University’s architecture and the informal East Garden that showcases a more natural characteristic. The rectilinear landscape of the Entry Garden contrasts significantly with the organic plantings in the East Garden behind the building. These bold masses of planting are intended to naturalize and grow together, eventually mimicking the uncultivated land in the region surrounding Yale University. In coordination with the site achieving a LEED-Gold sustainability rating, the landscape was designed with ecologically purposeful, low maintenance species and minimal areas of turf.
